Who We Are

We work to change the lives of those who need it most.

Officially formed in 1955, Junior Welfare Society received non-profit tax-exempt 501(c)3 status in 1963. This all-volunteer group fundraises to offer a unique service in Broward County – providing one-time emergency assistance for those experiencing an unexpected temporary downturn.

Referrals come to us from governmental or private social service organizations as well as churches and temples. We work with social service professionals who have developed plans with their clients so they can get back on their feet after receiving our assistance. We have developed an extensive network of professionals in the community upon whom we can rely – and who in turn depend upon us for stopgap funding.

Junior Welfare Society is there when all other alternatives have been exhausted and immediate help is needed. We provide emergency assistance to those with a recovery plan in place and a goal of financial stability and thereby improving the quality of life for children, the elderly, single men and women and families in Broward County.
